Med Ed for the Modern-Day Surgeon
On the small screen
Between my third and fourth years of medical school, I took a gap year to work as a Medical Student Producer for the Emmy Award winning 8th season of The Dr. Oz Show. During that time, I learned about the art of medical story telling - conveying information to patients across the globe about their health.
Democratizing Pediatric Surgical Information
As a research fellow for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Department of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery, I create weekly video and audio educational content. Here are some samples of both a YouTube video and audio podcast.
Mic check
During my fourth year of medical school and into my intern year of residency, I served as a medical/social media consultant for Premier Health - one of the largest medical networks in the Dayton area. I worked with various community physicians to help launch one of my favorite projects, a patient facing health podcast called “Premier Health: On Air Now”.
Hot off the Press
Your Coffee and Health
I was asked to be a contributor for Atlas Coffee Club, a unique company that provides sustainable and delicious coffee from around the world. This project interested me on two fronts - first, I love coffee and can’t get enough while working in the hospital. Second, coffee is one of the best sources of antioxidants in the American diet. As such, I wrote about how coffee may affect your health.
The Plant Based Heart
WellThoughts asked me to contribute to their health and wellness website and after browsing their previous articles, I knew immediately what I wanted to talk about. Nutrition is a key component to patient care and I have seen first hand what a lifetime of hypertension and hypercholesterolemia can do the cardiovascular system. That’s why I wrote about how patients may benefit from transitioning to a more plant based diet.
